Hope Springs Behavioral Health Encourages Family Therapy in Tandem With Other Targeted Services

Hope Springs Behavioral Health offers a broad range of mental health services to individuals who seek treatment in our intensive outpatient program. In particular, family therapy sessions combined with other programs allow patients and their loved ones to come together in neutral territory to discuss their differences, concerns, and, most importantly, their feelings.

As a leading mental health facility, many of our clinicians work with families during other counseling sessions to help ease tensions and start an open dialogue. This important step allows families to talk about obstacles and create plans to overcome them — as a team.

Our counselors who treat teenagers and adults are available to individuals throughout all of southeastern PA, including (but not limited to) the following communities:

  • Doylestown
  • Levittown
  • Willow Grove
  • Lansdale
  • Abington
  • Newtown
  • Feasterville-Trevose
  • Yardley
  • Hatboro
  • Warminster
  • Bucks County

We also offer group therapy and therapy for individuals if you feel family therapy may not be the best solution for your specific circumstances.

What to Expect During Family Therapy

Family therapy sessions at Hope Springs Behavioral Health give your family professional guidance as you work through stressful times. To ensure that each family gets the care they need, a child or teenager psychiatrist may be provided for younger family members who want (or need) to participate — but this will vary from case to case, of course. Additionally, the number of sessions needed will vary depending on the specific circumstances of each family. Our trained family counselors help struggling families find better ways to communicate, allowing them to express their thoughts, opinions and emotions more clearly with one another.

Reasons to Seek Family Therapy

Family therapy can have an amazing impact on families struggling with any of the following hardships:

  • Oppositional Behaviors
  • Emotional Issues
  • Family Conflicts
  • Substance Abuse or Addiction
  • Poor Communication
  • Grief or Loss
  • Blending Families
  • And More

What to Expect From Family Therapy

We offer family therapy sessions for those participating our intensive outpatient programs to give their families professional guidance as they work through stressful times. Our experienced clinicians help struggling families find better ways to communicate, allowing them to express their thoughts, opinions, and emotions more clearly with one another.

Why Consider a Family Therapy Option During Your Intensive Outpatient Sessions

Family therapy and counseling, when taken together, can have a positive impact in more ways than one. Some of the benefits of family therapy sessions include:

Oppositional Behaviors

Family therapy counseling can help address oppositional behaviors in children or adolescents. Through functional family therapy, parents can explore how family interaction patterns contribute to defiance or rule-breaking.

Emotional Issues

Emotional struggles often impact more than just one family member, affecting the family system as a whole. As such, when a family member develops emotional issues such as anxiety disorders or depression, systemic family therapy can be an effective solution.

Family Conflicts

Minor disagreements, deeper tensions, and other forms of family conflict can strain relationships over time. Structural family therapy works to address these conflicts by examining the roles each family member plays within the conflict. Through therapy, family members can resolve long-standing disputes and restructure unhealthy family dynamics.

Poor Communication

Poor communication is a common issue in many families that leads to misunderstandings and arguments. Through counseling, families can learn how to improve their listening skills, express themselves more clearly, and develop a shared understanding.

Grief or Loss

The loss of a loved one and the grief that follows can lead to the development of depression, anxiety disorders, and other forms of mental illness that deeply wound family dynamics. Therapy sessions can help families process this grief while supporting each other in healthy ways. By working through these emotions together, family members can have an easier time overcoming and processing a traumatic loss.

Blending Families

When different family systems come together under one roof, it can pose several unique challenges. Addressing these issues directly through therapy helps families establish boundaries and new roles and come to a greater understanding with each other.

And More

Those are just a few examples of problems we can help your family work through.

Benefits of Family Therapy

The goal of family therapy is always to heal and provide the framework needed to work through conflicts. With a counselor acting as a neutral third party, your family can finally have productive conversations during a session and identify the root of communication issues.

Once a meaningful, ongoing dialogue begins, you will understand each other better and break away from old, limiting thought patterns that lie at the root of your issues. After you’ve overcome these obstacles, you can work together, with our help, on a long-term solution for any troubles that may arise in the future.
